SUMMARY:
As the Creative Communications Specialist, you will collaborate closely with the Strategic Communications Director to bring Active Generations’ brand and storytelling to life. This role plays a key part in developing engaging content across multiple platforms, including photography, graphic design, and campaign development. You will contribute creative ideas, support marketing initiatives, and help ensure consistent, compelling messaging that reflects our mission and connects with our community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in creating graphic design materials, including social media posts, flyers, event signage, and digital communications.
- Support the Strategic Communications Director with tasks such as proofing content, organizing materials, and publishing approved pieces.
- Capture photos of members, programs, and events that reflect real, authentic moments in our community.
- Work with the marketing team to contribute ideas and support campaigns that promote programs and services.
- Help maintain a consistent look and feel across all materials in line with our brand standards.
- Organize and maintain photo, logo, and marketing asset files for easy team access.
- Use tools like Adobe Creative Suite and Canva to design and edit content, while continuing to learn and grow creative skills.
- Assist with updating the website to ensure program, event, and organizational information is accurate and up to date.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- One (1) or more years of experience in designing graphics and creating content preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Â
Working knowledge of graphic design principles and tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, with a strong eye for visual storytelling and detail. Basic photography skills with the ability to capture authentic, engaging images. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proof and adapt content for different audiences. A collaborative mindset with the ability to take direction, receive feedback, and contribute ideas. Comfort with learning new technology and platforms, including website content management systems and social media tools. Passion for creativity, curiosity to grow professionally, and alignment with the mission and values of Active Generations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Primarily works in a standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.Â
- Frequent use of a computer, camera, and other office equipment.Â
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching while attending events or capturing content.Â
- Ability to lift and carry light materials (up to 20 pounds), such as signage or marketing materials.Â
- Regular movement throughout Active Generations’ facilities, including attending programs, classes, and events.Â
- Occasional evening or weekend hours based on event and program schedules.Â
- Exposure to both indoor and outdoor environments, depending on event needs.Â
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic, active setting with varying levels of activity and noise.
