$20/hour (DOE) + up to $2/hour shift differential 


Schedule: 

Week 1: Tuesday 2pm-12am, Wednesday 2pm-12am, Thursday 2pm-12am, Saturday 2pm-12am

Week 2: Sunday 2pm-12am, Monday 2pm-12am, Thursday 2pm-12am, Friday 2pm-12am


Position Overview:

Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Crisis Advocate to provide crisis intervention services to individuals and support various shelter activities. What You Will Do:

  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to crisis telephone calls, in-person crisis counseling sessions, and shelter intakes and departures. Respond to the needs of shelter clients. Assist in making CPS reports. Complete client follow-up call backs. Transport clients as necessary. Assist with case management duties as assigned.
  • Outreach Services: Make appropriate referrals and coordinate services with other service providers. Provide Court Advocacy as assigned.
  • Data Management: Complete necessary forms and documentation.
  • Professional Development: Complete required annual training. Maintain required certifications and proficiencies. Attend assigned meetings.
  • Shelter Activities: May coordinate and facilitate shelter and non-shelter programs as assigned. Assist in keeping the shelter clean and orderly. Care for and supervise children staying in shelter as assigned.
  • Training: Assist with training needs of staff, interns and volunteers.
  • Safety, Policies and Procedures: Ensure safety standards and infection control policies are followed.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, or Human Services preferred.
  • Experience: Three years experience in human services preferred. 
  • Licensure: Valid driver’s license referred.
