Cath Lab Cardiovascular Tech position that will support cardiology procedures at both Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital and Naperville Freedom Drive Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
Days of Operations: 4 - 10hr shifts per week. Mon-Fri. Departments closed on weekends and holidays.
On-Call requirement: Must be able to arrive at Good Samaritan Hospital within 30 minutes for cardiac interventional call. Typically, 5-10 call shifts per month.
Pay Range
$38.20 - $57.30$15,000 sign-on bonus!
Position Requirements:
Typically requires 2 years cardiac cath lab experience. Demonstrated proficiency in PTCA, EPS preferred , with an AAS in RTR, or RTN license. or a minimum of 5years experience as RTR or RTN experience preferred.
~Minimum of 12 CEU hours per year.
~This position will need to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging prior experience with various age groups is preferred. ~Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
~Ability to anticipate patient and unit needs.
~Ability to teach procedures to the staff. ~Current License in the state of IL as a RTR, RTN, RCVT, or Paramedic (EMT~P)~ACLS, IABP. RCIS within two years of employment. The ability to function in a high stress environment, lift and
move heavy patients and equipment, stand for long periods of time, wearing lead apron (approx. 18 lbs.), and work flexible hours and on~call basis.
All cath lab staff must be able to respond to off hour call~ins within thirty minutes of the pager going off.
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.
Purpose:
To provide professional, highly technical nursing care to all cardiovascular patients, while assisting physicians during all cardiovascular procedures. Function as a liaison for patients, patient's families, and physicians. Assist physicians in the operation of technical equipment utilized during all procedures.
Accountabilities:
Maintain complete documentation of cardiovascular procedures
Participate in in~services, continuing education, and workshops to remain abreast of new procedures and current technologies
Accountable for the maintenance of quality control in all areas of the lab
Provide a secure and safe environment for patients and staff maintaining constant awareness of safety hazards
Assistance with new staff orientation within the department
Act as a role model within the department serving as a resource person for all clinical activities
Assisting in the development of new operating procedures
