General Purpose:

Ensures manufacturing of products and semi-finished products in his/her manufacturing division in compliance with shift productivity goals as well as internal and external quality specifications. Leads and motivates the team in his/her area to achieve set goals.

 

Shift(s) Available:

  • 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:00 AM) Sunday through Thursday

Supervisory Responsibilities:    

  • None 

         

Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Directly supervises shift employees working in his area of responsibility (manufacturing division)
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recommendations of hiring and firing employees and planning, assigning and directing work, conducting employee performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Ensures overall manufacturing output goals are achieved in his/her area of responsibility in compliance with manufacturing deadlines and delivery schedules by allocating personnel, setting up the equipment, re-working parts and personally supporting the troubleshooting efforts as required
  • Ensures compliance of all products and semi-finished products with our internal and external product specifications by inspecting finished, semi-finished or in-process goods and recommends acceptance or rejection by use of measuring tools.
  • Supports issuing of daily and monthly manufacturing reports
  • Supports all LEAN activities in the operations area, especially the sustainable execution and implementation of 5S principles (order and cleanliness) and continuous process improvement (stable processes) based on KAIZEN principles to achieve highest quality standards
  • Supports execution of regular and effective preventive maintenance as well as high quality corrective maintenance
  • Supports the implementation of a total productive maintenance (TPM) system
  • Supports the testing of new equipment and processes
  • Supports necessary information exchange and with logistics and purchasing (supply chain), quality and assembly
  • Promptly communicates equipment and personnel issues to the Manufacturing Manager.
  • Supports the execution of training plans for Operators and Machine Adjusters and promotes cross training activities among the shift team members
  • Develops cooperative relationships with his counterparts of other GLOCK units worldwide and ensures respective information flow
  • Ensures compliance with legal- and company ordinances in his/her areas of responsibility
  • Ensures compliance to ISO-, OSHA- and Environmental Protection regulatory and ensures highest safety standards in his/her area of responsibility
  • Keeps his/her standard of knowledge up-to-date in his/her area of responsibility through continuing education measures.
  • Contributes to ongoing company development and increasing competitiveness in conjunction with superiors; carries out corresponding activities in his/her area of responsibility
  • Demonstrates leadership skills by promoting team cohesion and motivating  team members
  • Mentors other team members to achieve set goals

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or GED

At least 3+ years’ experience as shift supervisor preferably in automotive, assembly and/or metal manufacturing

Basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing
