Description
The quality and wastewater Technician is responsible for ensuring the Paint Line operates within the required quality and environmental standards. Â This position focuses on maintaining paint quality, overseeing wastewater operations and supporting maintenance activities when needed. Â The technician will work closely with the Paint Line and Maintenance team to maintain compliance with environmental regulations, ensure product quality and support continuous improvement efforts.Â
Requirements
Responsibilities:Â
- Inspect painted products to verify quality standards are met.
- Check paint thickness using a wet film gauge to ensure proper coverage.
- Perform adhesion tests on finished material.
- Maintain and calibrate quality testing equipment as needed.
- Chemically balance and maintain wastewater levels and pH based on Paint and Die Shop waste volume.
- Ensure compliance with all city and state regulations for discharged wastewater and maintain accurate records of discharged water quality and quantity.
- Maintain inventory of wastewater treatment filters; clean and replace filters as needed.
- Test and maintain chemical balance for paint shop washer stations, ensuring proper water level and temperature.
- Inspect washer nozzles and plumbing for leaks, blockages, or other defects; replace as needed.
- Collect water samples and complete required testing and documentation for city wastewater requirements.
- Maintain hazardous material inventory and coordinate shipments in compliance with regulations.
- Support maintenance activities related to the Paint Line and wastewater systems when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area following company safety and housekeeping standards.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in cross-training to support multiple production areas and enhance skill development.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of wastewater systems, environmental compliance, or chemical processes preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Â
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.Â
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform job duties, requiring standing, walking, bending and reaching.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends and shifts as needed.Â
Work Environment
- Exposure to high temperatures, noises and dust in a manufacturing setting.
- Always wear appropriate PPE (e.g.: gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, steel toe shoes with metatarsal guard)Â
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles and caustic chemicals, all within OSHA standards.Â
