Position Overview
The Commercial Building Engineer is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations, functionality, and appearance of medical office buildings through hands-on maintenance, preventative care, and tenant support. At Meadows & Ohly, we use the title interchangeably with “Building Manager” because we value professionals who take ownership of their buildings, proactively identify opportunities for improvement, and help create environments that support healthcare delivery and exceptional tenant experiences.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance for building systems and equipmentÂ
- Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and general building issuesÂ
- Complete work orders and respond to tenant service requests in a timely mannerÂ
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors to support building operations and maintenance activitiesÂ
- Conduct routine property inspections to identify and address maintenance, safety, and housekeeping needsÂ
- Maintain building logs, records, compliance documentation, and operational filesÂ
- Support life safety and regulatory compliance programs, including required inspectionsÂ
- Assist with budgeting, operational planning, and supply inventory managementÂ
- Build strong relationships with tenants, vendors, and property ownership while supporting exceptional customer service
- Ability to support after-hours emergency response activities when required
Requirements

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED requiredÂ
- Two or more years of experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, construction, manufacturing, or related service industriesÂ
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systemsÂ
- Ability to troubleshoot building systems and perform routine maintenance and repairsÂ
- Experience coordinating vendors and maintaining regulatory compliance preferred
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and OutlookÂ
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, building schematics, and safety documentationÂ
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skillsÂ
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple prioritiesÂ
