In this role, you will perform CT scans with a focus on patient safety, comfort, and image quality while collaborating with radiologists and other healthcare professionals in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Responsibilities:

  • Perform and post-process a wide variety of CT examinations in accordance with established protocols and quality standards.

  • Verify patient identity, physician orders, and imaging procedures prior to scanning to ensure accuracy and patient safety.

  • Review patient charts, orders, and relevant clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and preparation requirements.

  • Educate patients on CT procedures, answer questions, and provide clear instructions to promote a positive patient experience.

  • Document procedures performed, patient history, and other pertinent information accurately and completely in the medical record.

  • Conduct patient follow-up communications as needed for specialized procedures, including biopsies, abscess drainages, and other interventional exams.

  • Assist physicians during special procedures by preparing and maintaining sterile fields, equipment, and supplies while anticipating procedural needs.

  • Adhere to department policies, quality assurance standards, infection prevention protocols, and safety regulations.

  • Help maintain department readiness by ensuring equipment functionality and assisting with inventory management, ordering, and stocking supplies as needed.

  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, workshops, and continuing education opportunities to support professional growth and maintain competency.

  • Achieve eligibility to sit for the CT Registry examination within two years of hire and pursue CT certification within five years of hire.

Qualifications:

Required Education

  • Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or a related imaging field required.

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Certified CT Technologist
  • New Mexico Computed Tomography License (NMCT) required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Computed Tomography certification (ARRT(CT)) required.

OR

CT Technologist in Training / Provisional Status

  • New Mexico Provisional Computed Tomography License (NMPCT) required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification in Radiography (ARRT(R)) required.
  • Must obtain ARRT(CT) certification and NMCT licensure within two (2) years of obtaining the NMPCT.
  • Must be actively pursuing an approved CT certification pathway.

Additional Requirements

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
