Physician MD/DO OBGYN

Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician Opportunity

Join a thriving, employed OB/GYN practice dedicated to providing comprehensive women's healthcare in a supportive, collaborative environment. This is an excellent opportunity to care for a diverse patient population while enjoying a balanced mix of obstetrics and gynecologic surgery.

Our Level II Maternity Center features a 10-bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit with a dedicated operating room for labor and delivery. The practice averages approximately 925 deliveries annually and offers significant surgical volume, with an estimated 50/50 split between gynecology and gynecologic surgery. Physicians have access to advanced technology, including the da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system, allowing for minimally invasive procedures such as hysterectomies, endometriosis treatment, and fibroid removal.

Position Highlights

  • Employed physician model with competitive salary plus RVU-based incentive bonus
  • Comprehensive OB and GYN practice with strong surgical opportunities
  • Diverse patient population representing a wide range of backgrounds and cultures
  • Integrated clinic schedule caring for both OB and GYN patients
  • Responsibilities include labor and delivery coverage, antepartum/postpartum care, triage, gynecologic consultations, and surgery
  • Average clinic volume of 20–25 patients per day
  • Approximately 90 deliveries per month (average of 3 deliveries per day)

Call & Practice Support

  • Shared 24-hour call with a current 1:3 rotation, expected to improve to 1:4 or 1:5
  • Call is home call with a 20-minute response time; no in-house call requirement
  • Residents manage emergency department consultations and triage
  • Collaborative support from certified nurse-midwives and Family Medicine physicians with OB training, who independently manage their deliveries while on call
  • High-risk maternal-fetal medicine, infertility, urogynecology, and other subspecialty cases are referred to specialty centers

Teaching Opportunities

Physicians enjoy an active academic environment with opportunities to teach and mentor:

  • Family Medicine residents
  • OB Fellowship physicians
  • Medical students from Des Moines University and the University of Iowa

The state-funded Family Medicine Obstetrics Fellowship is designed to prepare physicians to provide obstetrical care in Iowa's rural communities.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary with RVU productivity incentives
  • Malpractice coverage: $1 million per occurrence / $3 million aggregate
  • $4,000 annual CME allowance
  • Up to 40 hours of CME annually
