Storeroom Clerk
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Manger of Materials Management, the Storeroom Clerk is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing supplies and equipment, and for making day-to-day decisions concerning the operation of the Storeroom.
All employees of the medical center are responsible for abiding by BMC’s Code of Conduct and will assure compliance to all State and Federal regulations.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
1. Reviews, receives, and verifies that all supplies and equipment delivered to the Storeroom are accurate and intact.
2. Processes and dispenses equipment and supplies to user departments efficiently while following infection control and hazardous material guidelines and facility policies.
3. Monitors and maintains the status of supply requisitions and inventory levels in real time.
4. Maintains and monitors purchase orders, invoices, and backorders in real time.
5. Assigns, records, and maintains a master file of property numbers for all capital equipment purchased by the medical center.
6. Prepares and packages items leaving the medical center for shipment.
7. Reports safety, security, equipment, and personnel concerns to the department Manager immediately.
8. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of Storeroom areas.
9. Attends regularly scheduled department meetings and committee meetings as required.
10. Embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned, including cross training in other department positions as needed.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
1. Delivers items received to the proper department according to schedule.
2. Documents receiving of items in the Materials Management inventory system at the time of receipt.
3. Records and notifies appropriate parties when items arrive with shipment damage or irregularities at the time of receipt.
4. Processes overnight packages for shipment by 3:30 p.m. each day.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. One year of related work experience.
3. Ability to communicate in a pleasant, positive, and effective manner with staff, patients, visitors, vendors, and all levels of hospital management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Prior experience in supply chain.
2. Knowledge of and experience with a computerized inventory system.
