We are looking for a Area Sales Manager to cover the Midwest region of our North America territory.  This role plans, manages, and coordinates activities related to the sale and promotion of products and services of HKP.  This role facilitates the development of new market strategies including discovering new product platform profiles, finding new business opportunities, maintaining existing accounts, and advising/guiding the business in the most effective use of resources for the purpose of serving our customers and meeting the territory's growth goals. Territory covers Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and Ontario, Canada. 

 

What you will do:

  • Own and manage the complete sales process for customers within the assigned territory, from prospecting and opportunity qualification through solution development, quotation, order acquisition, and ongoing account management. Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to deliver technical solutions, drive revenue growth, exceed customer expectations, and support the achievement of company objectives.
  • Manage and strengthen customer relationships within the assigned territory by serving as the primary point of contact between customers and internal teams, including Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering. Coordinate delivery changes, quality concerns, technical issue resolution, prototype development, and prototype scheduling to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction while supporting company objectives.
  • Manage any other interaction between the company and the customer heretofore unmentioned
  • Work with local reps and rep firms (if present) to facilitate the sales process
  • Execute company marketing and sales development strategies by generating and qualifying leads, managing follow-up activities, and representing the company at trade shows and industry events to drive business growth and expand market presence.
  • Provide written reports back to the company on all customer contacts or developments of significance
  • Provide quarterly business reviews for their territory in the format specified by the sales manager
  • Participate in the company’s annual sales forecast for the following fiscal year
  • Follow all company policies regarding personal behavior in the workplace
  • Follow company standards and procedures
  • Follow all company safety regulations
  • Work under the direction of the Regional Sales Manager or Designee with a minimum amount of supervision
  • Other assigned duties as required

 

We are looking for:

  • Must live in the assigned territory - Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana or Kentucky
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S. or B.A.) in a technical or related field from an accredited educational institution
  • At least 3 years direct sales experiences; and/or combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of the operating principles and application of BLDC, brushed, and stepper motors, motor drives, lead screws, and linear actuators as well general engineering concepts of linear and rotary motion and power transfer
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
  • Familiar with the use of Windows based PC’s and programs (MS Office suite of programs mandatory)
  • Must be fluent (spoken & written) in English and the predominate language of the assigned territory
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; must demonstrate excellent internal and external communication skills and have a strong service mindset
  • Must be able to work well within a team or independently, as well as demonstrate initiative and a drive for results

 

Additional Characteristics:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of engineering and sales principles
  • Willing to work outside and beyond standard office hours (8:00AM – 5:00PM Mon-Fri) when the situation warrants
  • Willing to travel frequently with overnight stays as the needs of the customers in the territory dictate
  • Strong business and work ethic
