Job Summary: Responsible for the effective cleaning and maintenance of precision molds for plastic injection molding machines.  


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

Develops and documents instructions for safe and efficient mold tear down, cleaning and reassembly. 

Tears down, assembles, and cleans mold components safely and efficiently according to SMC procedures, ISO, GMP and OSHA guidelines / standards.  

Transfer clean molds to press room floor and prepare molds for shipping to outside vendors. 

Accesses ERP system for information and the closing of work orders while following mold tagging system.  

Identifies and labels configuration of mold components for proper assembly.  

Maintains inventory of mold cleaning supplies.  

Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment. 

Inspects mold components for damage or quality defects and follows up with appropriate Engineer or Tooling personnel regarding damage to molds and / or updates to instructions. 

Maintains cleanliness of work area. 

Performs other duties as assigned. 


Essential Qualifications: 

A high school diploma / GED and a minimum of one year of experience in the plastics industry 

Mechanical aptitude. 

Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.   

Demonstrated team player with effective interpersonal and communication skills.  

Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment. 


Desirable Qualifications: 

Tooling experience. 

Previous injection molding experience. 

Working knowledge of ISO, GMP and OSHA standards. 

Experience with ERP systems.  

Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts. 

 

ADA Requirements: 

Bend, squat, climb, grasp, reach, lift or otherwise move frequently for extended periods  

Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. frequently, or more occasionally 

Walk, stand or otherwise move about continuously 

Exposure to machine shop physical hazards including chemicals which may require respiratory protection 

Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer
