About the Role
Anvil is seeking an experienced, hands-on Mineral Processing Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and optimization of material handling, comminution, and separation circuits in our process. This role is for someone who is highly experienced and also deeply curious. You must be motivated by working on challenging, novel problems in your field.
You will work closely with Anvil's Head of Technology, Chief Scientist, external EPC partners, equipment vendors, and leadership to oversee the company’s multiple material handling work streams. If you are a hands-on engineer with significant industry experience in mineral processing, who is now looking for a creative challenge, this role may be for you.
What You'll Do
Design and oversee experiments to determine optimal mineral processing circuits to achieve target product specifications
Oversee ongoing material handling test work performed by third-party laboratories
Lead equipment selection, sizing, and spec definition for comminution, classification, separation, and other material handling systems
Review and approve vendor process documentation, equipment submittals, and technical calculations
Support development of PFDs, P&IDs, and process design packages
Define process guarantees, performance criteria, and acceptance testing requirements
Support procurement by developing technical datasheets, RFQ packages, and bid evaluations
Provide technical input to project scheduling, sequencing, and execution planning
Support commissioning, startup, and operational troubleshooting as the project moves toward mechanical completion
Maintain process documentation, technical logs, and lessons-learned records throughout test work and project development
Experience
8–15+ years of mineral processing engineering experience in industrial, mining, or related sectors
Hands-on experience with comminution, classification, separation, or bulk solids processing systems across a variety of mineral contexts
Experience working on capital projects from concept through commissioning — not exclusively design-office work
Track record of owning process engineering scope as a lead contributor on complex projects
Skills & Attributes
Deeply curious - this role is for someone who loves to figure things out and will wrestle a problem to the ground, no matter what
Strong understanding of processing unit operations and equipment performance characteristics across a range of feedstocks and product requirements
Strong technical communicator — able to interface clearly with engineers, vendors, contractors, and non-technical leadership
Practical, solutions-oriented mindset with a bias toward execution
Highly organized, with strong documentation habits and follow-through
Preferred Education
Degrees in Mineral Processing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Relevant hands-on experience is weighted heavily.
Industry Background
Candidates with experience in any of the following industries are encouraged to apply: mining, cement, aggregates, industrial minerals, lithium and battery materials, energy, or chemical processing.
Tools
Required: MS 365, process simulation or mass balance tools
Preferred: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Visio, HSC Chemistry, JKSimMet, USIM PAC, or equivalent process modeling platforms
