Job Description

 

IHI Power Services Corp. (IPSC) has a career opportunity for an O&M Technician II – Systems Technician at Pacific Ultrapower Chinese Station located in Jamestown, CA. The hourly rate range for this role is $41.72 - $53.08.

 

Job Summary

 

Accountable for placing purchase orders and contracts with qualified suppliers to provide the materials, parts and services required to support the activities and operation of the facility. Responsible for the management of the spares parts and materials inventory and ensures the inventory is maintained in the plant’s computerized maintenance management system. Is accountable for the ordering, receiving, and shipping of materials and parts to and from the warehouse, along with AP.

 

Job Functions

  • Performs all duties in accordance with requirements detailed in the Facility's Safety Program.
  • Ensures stock items are procured as necessary when shelf quantities drop below minimum reorder points.
  • Obtains and compares pricing and terms for purchases. Prepares bid comparisons to determine the most cost-effective suppliers, negotiate price, delivery, and contract terms.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with various critical vendors.
  • Works closely with the Management to develop commercial lines of credit so the Company can purchase on a net 30-day credit basis.
  • Maintains computerized supplier records and files systems including supplier performance.
  • Ensures purchasing requisitions are properly prepared, ensures appropriate approvals are obtained and generates the purchase order after the purchase is approved.
  • Monitors expected delivery dates and status of pending orders, coordinates shipments and expedites delivery of critical items when required.
  • Receives and verifies quantity and condition of goods and materials received at the plant. Additionally, works with plant personnel on the acceptance and quality of purchased parts and materials to ensure purchased parts and materials are of acceptable quality.
  • Facilitates and participates in physical inventory count activities.
  • Performs data entry and inventory  management and purchasing information into the Computerized Maintenance Management System to facilitate adequate record keeping of purchasing and inventory activities.
  • Codes procurement documents to the appropriate charge number and center to affect accurate cost tracking.
  • Responds to off-hour plant emergencies and assists in required activities.
  • Observes, implements, and complies with the plant safety program and procedures when purchasing materials parts and equipment. Make sure all contractors observe all safety manual requirements.
  • Maintains material handling, spare parts storage spaces and plant facilities in a neat, clean, and orderly condition.
  • Ensures that appropriate vendors meet all requirements for disposal of all plant generated waste through coordinated efforts with the Environmental, Health and Safety Practices.
  • Compiles and prints various inventory and purchasing reports as needed.
  • Maintains warehouse space free of safety hazards and performs general cleanup and maintenance of the warehouse.
  • Operates forklift & Bobcat to transport materials and goods to the job site or the appropriate space in the warehouse.
  • Collaboratively work with plant administrator to ensure timely and promote payment of all invoices.
  • Acts as the point of contract for managing customer AP concerns.
  • Coordinates, manages & supervises temporary labor help during plant maintenance outages and when needed.
  • Travel as necessary to various vendors to pick-up and drop off parts, materials, and equipment for repairs.

 

Other duties will include:

    • Greet visitors and represents the facilities in a professional manner. Control access to the inner office area.
    • Handle phone calls and mail distribution in a timely, professional, and dependable manner.
    • Maintain files with established filing systems and document retention procedures. Archive and discard files as assigned.
    • Prepare reports, correspondence, and other documents using Microsoft Office applications. This includes outage-lessons learned, safety meeting minutes, and other reports as assigned by the management team.
    • Copy and compile materials for business meetings, training sessions, etc.
    • Balance and reconcile procurement card account each month. Submit documentation, as necessary.
    • Accounts Payable – Accurately process and verify invoices for payment. Close purchase orders or change status as appropriate through the Mainsaver program when invoice is paid. Maintain copies of all invoice documentation in plant files.
    • Purchase Orders – Ensure accuracy of purchase orders, correct signatures & approvals, etc. Copy and distribute to proper parties. Check purchase orders and contracts prior to signatures to ensure approved purchase order amounts are not exceeded without change orders.
    • Create and Manage Contract Purchase Orders within Mainsaver.
    • Other duties as assigned by Manager

 

 

Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent level of work experience.
  • Successful completion of applicable Pre-Employment test battery.
  • Successful completion of applicable Pre-Employment occupational physical tests, drug test, and formal background checks.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the assigned position.
  • Must possess solid level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
  • At least three years of related work experience.
  • Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

 

  • Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
  • Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
  • Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
  • Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
  • CMMS Software knowledge, Mainsaver a plus
  • Basic data entry/computer skills
  • Work as a team. Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all of the business challenges.

 

Work Environment - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

 

  • Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties. Work with hazardous materials may be required.
  • May Require working 12-hour shifts during maintenance outages with weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions.
  • Includes working indoors and outdoors

  • Physical requirements include possibility of working on foot for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and occasionally lifting 50 pounds.
  • All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facilities.
  • Must be able to work in elevated areas, confined spaces and in extreme heat and cold conditions.
