Viridian Staffing’s Client is seeking a Controller to serve as their first dedicated accounting leader within a fast-growing, innovation-driven organization. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in building from the ground up and is equally comfortable executing day-to-day accounting tasks while designing scalable systems and processes for long-term growth.

Founded in 2013, Viridian Staffing (www.viridianstaffing.com) is the premier staffing, recruiting, and HR consulting firm solely dedicated to organizations in and supporting the commercial, medical, and industrial cannabis / hemp industry.

In this role, you will take ownership of establishing and scaling the accounting function, beginning with hands-on responsibilities such as processing journal entries, managing invoices, and overseeing reconciliations, while simultaneously building the infrastructure needed to support future expansion. You will lead a system conversion, partnering cross-functionally to define requirements and ensure successful deployment. You will develop inventory and cost accounting processes to support a manufacturing environment and ensure accurate product costing. You will transition outsourced accounting operations in-house, establish SOPs, build a structured month-end close process, and support audit readiness. As the organization grows, you will have the opportunity to build and lead the accounting team.

You will bring 8+ years of progressive accounting experience along with an active CPA license. You must have hands-on experience with inventory and cost accounting in a manufacturing, hardware, or physical goods environment. Experience leading or supporting an ERP implementation is required, along with a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP. Ideally, you began your career in a Big 4 or top-tier audit firm and have experience within high-growth environments. You are a hands-on leader who can execute detailed accounting work while thinking strategically about long-term structure and scalability, with a demonstrated ability to build processes from scratch and evolve them as the organization grows. Experience leveraging AI or automation tools to streamline accounting workflows is preferred.
