Production Supervisor, 1st Shift - Molding Products, South Bend

Full Time Regular

$28.00 to $33.00 per hour, OT Eligible.

1st Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm


Reporting to the Production Manager of Molding Products, LLC, the Production Supervisor manages the daily activities of their respective shift. Front-line leadership in day-to-day operations of a designated production team seeking to optimize their safety, quality, efficiencies, housekeeping, training, and development.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Proven track record of success as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of five years of experience in a related plastics or management field.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001: 2015 and ISO14001:2015 methodology and mandates.
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and 5S methodology preferred.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) preferred.
  • Strong communications and team building skills.
  • Ability to participate in self-development activities and training of others.
  • Ability to lead or participate in teams and coordinate activities with other departments to achieve goals for the site.
  • Strong problem-solving skills required.
  • Must have strong analytical and computer skills with an emphasis on a Microsoft platform including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


The Production Supervisor is expected to be an agent of change in improving the site’s safety culture by subscribing to the philosophy that all accidents are preventable. This individual proactively identifies unsafe conditions and understands the urgency in immediately correcting unsafe behavior.

Essential Functionals and Duties

  • This position provides leadership and training with their respective shift personnel in accomplishing production objectives and in assuring that activities are completed in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • The Production Supervisor leads the shift’s start-up meetings and communicates information to production floor team members about safety, identified quality issues, production schedules, plant metrics, production requirements, and other business updates.
  • This position is expected to be focused on continuous improvement. The Production Supervisor monitors and improves the site’s manufacturing performance regarding safety, quality, and efficiencies. This position works in conjunction with other departments in order to minimize production losses.
  • The Production Supervisor promotes floor organization and plant housekeeping with employees utilizing 5S and lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • The Production Supervisor manages planned/unplanned absenteeism by positively influencing others while building and creating collaborative relationships.
  • The Production Supervisor assures that accurate production records are maintained and communicates this production data accurately for scheduling, inventory, production, quality, hazardous waste, and shipping purposes as required.
  • This position assures that production supplies and tools are available as needed for their team members.
  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to bend, stand, twist, and climb stairs. This position requires a strong floor presence with standing or walking consuming approximately 60% of the shift.
  • This position requires a flexibility in the schedule allowing the individual to occasionally and strategically work with other shifts. The role of Production Supervisor periodically requires overtime and work on weekends as needed.
