Responsibilities:
- Schedules diagnostic imaging appointments, including X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, CT, MRI, and other radiology procedures.
- Reviews orders for completeness and accuracy and obtains any missing information before scheduling.
- Coordinates appointment dates, times, locations, and required preparation instructions with patients and clinical departments.
- Verifies patient demographics, insurance information, referrals, and authorization requirements.
- Communicates procedure-specific preparation instructions to patients and answers general scheduling questions.
- Prioritizes urgent requests and works with clinical teams to accommodate time-sensitive imaging needs.
- Reschedules or cancels appointments as needed and promptly communicates schedule changes to patients and departments.
- Maintains accurate and complete scheduling documentation within the electronic medical record and scheduling systems.
- Provides professional, compassionate service while protecting patient privacy and adhering to HIPAA requirements.
- Collaborates with radiology technologists, providers, clinical teams, and insurance representatives to resolve scheduling concerns.
- Monitors schedules for accuracy and efficiency and works to maximize appointment availability and patient access.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer proficiency and accurate data-entry skills required. Must demonstrate attention to detail, professionalism, dependability, and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Previous scheduling, healthcare, medical office, or customer service experience preferred.
