Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Legal Intern will gain hands-on experience in Everwise’s Legal department by supporting daily operations, including complaint investigations, handling discovery requests, cross-department collaboration, contract review and drafting, and potential litigation tasks. The role may also involve communicating with county courts and interacting with external counsel. Additionally, the intern will complete a major project to present at the conclusion of the internship.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Working with team to update Legal department page, predominately the FAQs and corresponding answers.
  • Reviewing and redlining contracts and collaborating with Legal team members to compare notes and recommendations.
  •  Assist with regulatory and legal research as needed. 
  •  Identify and communicate the resources needed to complete the assigned project
  • Research and recommend additional tools that may benefit Everwise based on the needs of the project.
  • Assist in reviewing credit union procedures to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and compliance with all regulatory rules.
  • Additional duties include responding to subpoenas, working with relevant regulatory bodies, and performing client counseling.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • High level of professionalism
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word)
  • Accountable for the quality of work provided, documentation and follow-up with adherence to Everwise’s service expectations.
  • Accountable for maintaining the strictest of confidentiality

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Currently attending a college or university and have taken the intermediate level courses typically in the third year of study.
  • Pursuit of degree in Law preferred
