Senior Purchasing Agent

About the role

Lawrence Equipment is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee and optimize our procurement operations. This position plays a key role in supporting engineering and production by sourcing and purchasing a wide range of industrial components—including motors, drives, electrical and electronic parts, fabricated materials, and raw metals. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, supplier management experience, and the ability to balance cost, quality, and delivery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What you'll do

• Identify and evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery performance
• Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment of materials.
• Coordinate with engineering and production planning teams to optimize supply chain efficiency.
•   Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information.
•    Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers in a timely manner

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing context.
• Strong knowledge of logistics, production planning, and supply chain management principles.
•    Familiarity with materials management processes and best practices.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions
• Experience working with MRP systems.
•  Experience with purchasing raw metals, electronics, and consumables.
