SUMMARY:
Primary responsibilities include the timely and accurate counting of inventory, conducts analysis determining discrepancies, providing input on continuous improvement as well as performing other duties as assigned by Manager. On an as needed basis will assist the Shipping & Receiving Department in the receipt of incoming parts, materials and finished products and/or preparing of same items for outgoing shipment checking items against packing lists, counting and keeping accurate records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Â
Performs daily inventory cycle counts, fills out count sheets, and assists in reconciling variances.
Â
Conducts analysis to determine root cause for discrepancies and implements corrective action to ensure the problem does not re-occur.
Â
Provides input on continuous improvement and lean projects involving inventory control.
Â
Performs other duties and/or special material control projects as assigned by Supervisor or Lead.
Â
May also assist as needed in the shipping process which includes comparing identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Â
Confers with Shipping & Receiving Lead to determine best method of shipment based on delivery destination and required delivery date.
Â
With assistance, if needed, assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers determined by item to be shipped.
Â
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure it meets specifications.
Â
Enters shipping information into database for tracking purposes.
Â
As instructed schedules pickup by major carriers such as UPS, Federal Express etc.
Â
As needed assists Shipping & Receiving Lead to unpack and examine incoming shipments, rejecting damaged items, recording shortages, corresponding with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Upon acceptance and recording of incoming shipments in SAP, shipments requiring receiving inspection are routed to Quality Inspections Department for further processing.

Assists Shipping & Receiving Lead in maintaining inventory of shipping materials and supplies alerting him/her to any shortages.
Â
Performs all Shipping & Receiving functions as backup for Shipping & Receiving Lead and Shipping Clerk as needed and during absences.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic knowledge of manufacturing procedures, including inventory, distribution and operational procedures. Able to clearly communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Able to follow through with work assignments with minimal supervision. in a team environment or as an individual. Familiar with MS software such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

Previous experience working in a Shipping and Receiving department helpful, preferably in a manufacturing environment but not required to be considered for this position.  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  Â

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three (3) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Â
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
Â
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Â
Â
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Â
Valid California Drivers license with proof of good driving history. DOT (Department of Transportation) training. Must be able to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee frequently is required to stand, sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds or up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Majority of work is performed in a typical production plant, shop environment.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles as well as exposure to outside weather conditions. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper safety training and equipment is provided to employee for the safe performance of required duties.
