- Safely operate and drive a tractor-trailer in all types of weather conditions
- Adhere to all applicable traffic laws, safety regulations, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- Inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles as required
- Load and unload cargo safely and securely, frequently using a forklift
- Safely connect and disconnect trailers and piggyback forklifts
- Keep electronic and/or paper vehicle logs and records of cargo as required by law or requested by company
- Complete paperwork accurately and timely
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle
- Report any mechanical or other problems with the vehicle to the Regional Logistics Coordinator or assigned Dispatcher, troubleshoot minor problems
- Follow delivery instructions and delivery schedules from Dispatch and Management
- Utilize GPS navigation, paper maps, road signs and other navigational items
- Ensure all product deliveries are signed for and proof of delivery is turned in at the end of each day
- Understand the product and item numbers to not deliver incorrect items or quantities
- Communicate any problems or delays to Regional Logistics Coordinator, assigned Dispatcher, or Store Manager
- Maintain a courteous and professional attitude when interacting with customers
- Provide prompt, courteous customer service
- Maintain company vehicles which includes keeping it clean, knowing when the maintenance is due and notifying proper people when maintenance is required
- Fueling and unloading truck at the end of each day so it is ready for the next business day
- Maintain receipts pertaining to fuel purchases made on the company fuel card
- Occasional travel away from home overnight
- Other duties as apparent or assigned
