Summary 

Under the direction of the COO, the Manufacturing Engineer will identify, recommend and implement solutions to production problems related to materials, processes, procedures, tooling and workplace health and safety at the Rawson and Orchard plants 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Conduct cost comparison studies, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, production routing procedures, to determine efficient utilization of equipment.
  • Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency, workplace safety and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations, 
  • Oversees the development of new processes, methods, and production controls. 
  • Designs tools and fixtures used to manufacture products. 
  • Reviews production program equipment, hardware, and tooling; makes recommendations for repairs and replacements. 
  • Assist in installation of new equipment and ensure that it operates correctly; trains others to operate new machinery. 
  • Oversees, administer, review and update the Company’s Safety Program to support, develop and maintain a 6S Culture.
  • Prepares operations manuals for new or existing equipment. 
  • Maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Participate in the initial phases of new products lines to assist in the design for cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Maintains knowledge of new and developing manufacturing technology, equipment and applications; applies this knowledge to recommend and implement new technology and processes that would improve production, quality, safety and reduce manufacturing costs. 
  • Respond to safety concerns, lead safety committee and First Responders program. 
  • Maintain consistency for all Safety efforts throughout the Company and communicate with plant supervision any deviations of safety procedures. 
  • Process all necessary documentation and maintain records of studies and recommendations for improvements.
  • Confer with management to implement plans and recommendations.

Education and/or Experience

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience plus three years of related experience. 

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or time study data. Ability to write reports and standard documentation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and other employees of the organization. 

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 

Reasoning Ability 

Ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Qualifications

Requires the ability to operate various equipment to include a computer, stopwatch, and various office equipment.  Requires a good understanding of tool making and the manufacturing process.
