What You’ll Do

As a Trainer, you will:

  • Develop, schedule, and provide orientation training for all new staff members, complete the orientation check list, and ensure training information is entered into the training database
  • Ensure that all staff training files are maintained in accordance with the requirements of licensing / regulatory agencies
  • Develop and implements new staff orientation training and professional certification training plans for staff members
  • Develop and deliver pertinent and required on-going training programs for the facility and assists with other regional training related initiatives
  • Monitor all staff training hours to ensure compliance with mandated standards
  • Coordinate onsite and offsite training for staff members
  • In conjunction with training management, develops and implements training activities for new facilities and new programs
  • Coordinate training activities with the State trainers for those programs or facilities that operate under State contracts
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff in a manner that promotes team spirit and sense of cooperation
  • Support the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care
  • Demonstrate appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree

OR

  • Associate’s degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university and three years related experience working with children

OR

  • High School Diploma or GET and five (5) years’ experience
  • Certified as an American Red Cross Trainer and Safe Crisis Management Trainer, preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, days, and weekends to work with all staff. This schedule will be set to meet facility needs and can change with at the discretion of the Training Manager and facility leadership

Other Qualifications:

  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Physical exam that includes TB and drug testing.
  • Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
  • Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
