SUMMARY

The Assistant Corporate Controller provides high-level support to the Corporate Controller in managing the company’s accounting and financial operations. This role assists with financial reporting, general ledger management, month-end and year-end close processes, account reconciliations, audit coordination, and maintaining accurate financial records. The Assistant Corporate Controller identifies and resolves accounting discrepancies while supporting the overall organization, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Finance department.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and consolidated financial statements in accordance with established accounting standards, policies, and requirements.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, invoices, and supporting documentation as part of the monthly and annual closing process.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close procedures, identify discrepancies in financial records, and recommend solutions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate and support annual financial audits by preparing requested documentation, providing financial data, and serving as a liaison with external auditors.
  • Review accounting data, analyze financial information, and prepare supporting schedules and reports for management review.
  • Maintain and oversee balance sheet accounts, ensuring reconciliations are completed accurately and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Utilize accounting software and ERP systems to maintain financial records, process transactions, and prepare financial reports.
  • Support accounting operations by coordinating tasks with team members and providing guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
  • Maintain working knowledge of team members’ responsibilities to ensure continuity of coverage and effective department operations.
  • Research accounting issues and assist with compliance related to accounting standards, company policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Assist in developing and improving accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls to reduce errors and improve operational efficiency.
  • Assist with tax compliance activities, including sales and use tax reporting, federal and state tax requirements, and coordination with external tax providers.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, reporting issues, and process-related concerns in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Controller and CFO on financial initiatives, reporting requirements, and departmental improvements.
  • May supervise and provide guidance to accounting staff, including reviewing work, supporting development, and ensuring completion of departmental responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger management, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting requirements, and internal controls.
  • Knowledge of tax compliance requirements, including state sales and use tax regulations.
  • Experience with ERP accounting systems; Sage Intacct and OnePlace experience preferred.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities.
