Position Summary
 The Hardware Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting hardware-related warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, returns, and system transactions. This role helps ensure hardware inventory is accurate, properly handled, organized, and processed correctly in company systems.

The Hardware Operations Specialist plays an important role in maintaining efficient warehouse workflows, supporting internal service needs, resolving discrepancies, and communicating hardware status and availability to internal teams.


Key Responsibilities

Receiving & Inventory Control

  • Receive and verify hardware shipments for accuracy, condition, and documentation.
  • Complete system transactions related to receiving, transfers, adjustments, and inventory corrections.
  • Label, stage, and put away hardware using established bin and location standards.
  • Maintain accurate location control for hardware items.
  • Ensure hardware products are handled, stored, and moved according to company procedures.


Order Fulfillment

  • Pick, kit, and stage hardware orders for jobs and internal requests.
  • Ensure staged hardware is accurate and complete prior to release.
  • Support urgent and priority requests in coordination with Sales, Purchasing, and Operations.
  • Communicate order or fulfillment concerns promptly to leadership or appropriate internal teams.
  • Help prevent operational delays caused by hardware-related issues.


Returns & Discrepancies

  • Process hardware returns, including vendor returns, customer returns, and jobsite returns.
  • Inspect returned items and determine proper disposition according to company procedures.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies, including shortages, overages, damages, mis-picks, and system errors.
  • Complete corrective system transactions and document root causes where applicable.
  • Track recurring issues and communicate patterns or concerns to leadership.


Inventory Accuracy & Organization

  • Perform regular cycle counts and support physical inventory processes.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe hardware storage and staging areas.
  • Support accurate inventory data, reliable system records, and proper hardware transaction documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, efficiency, and workflow.
  • Maintain ownership and accountability for assigned hardware-related warehouse functions.


Operational Support

  • Communicate effectively with Purchasing, Sales, Operations, Warehouse, and other internal departments regarding hardware status and availability.
  • Follow established procedures and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support overall warehouse operations and team objectives as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, receiving, fulfillment, returns, or related role preferred.
  • Hardware product knowledge or experience working with hardware inventory preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficiency with inventory systems, ERP/WMS systems, scanners, and basic computer tools.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Ability to research discrepancies, complete system corrections, and document issues accurately.
  • Professional, dependable, safety-focused, and team-oriented.


Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work is primarily performed in a warehouse environment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and moving throughout the warehouse.
  • Regular lifting and moving of products up to 50 pounds.
  • Use of warehouse equipment, including carts, pallet jacks, ladders, and step stools.
  • Ongoing interaction with internal teams, including Purchasing, Sales, Warehouse, and Operations.
  • Exposure to warehouse conditions, product movement, storage areas, and varying temperatures may occur.
