Description
This candidate is responsible for starting-up new hardware-based AI initiatives in healthcare; come with an exploratory mind, the ability to influence and build coalitions, and a broad skillset and willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
Conceptualize, design, and fabricate prototypes, with an emphasis on integration with AI and Verily’s health platform
Work and seek success in a scrappy, low-headcount environment where our concept success directly impacts our growth
Plan to work within a leveraged model to take on projects of higher complexity and progress through the design cycle
Enthusiastic builder who thrives at the intersection of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering. The ideal candidate will be passionate about hardware development and capable of writing/vibe-coding software for prototypes.
Work closely with electrical and firmware engineers as needed to bring prototypes to life
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar field with at least 10 years of industry experience
Ability to perform and stay motivated in a very small team environment and function as the only mechanical engineer
Experience with using a variety of rapid prototyping processes to build functional physical prototypes
Experience with SolidWorks CAD design and creating engineering drawings for outside fabrication
Experience architecting electronic devices, DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing / Design for Assembly), and designing for processes such as injection molding, machining, metal stamping, laser welding etc.
Preferred Qualifications
MS or PhD in ME or related field with at least 8 years of experience
Early stage startup experience in a technical leadership role
Experience developing health and wellness devices at any scale; regulated medical devices is a plus
Demonstrated track record of concept generation and new product exploration and development
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as ability to communicate effectively with scientists and engineers from a wide range of technical and medical backgrounds.
This role is eligible for Verily-sponsored immigration support.
Compensation Information
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $177,000 - $265,500 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
