Who We Are

From the beginning, Genentech has been a team of highly dedicated, passionate individuals. We are a place where people are united around a single purpose and an ambitious vision. Together, we aspire to deliver ever better health outcomes for patients while lowering overall healthcare costs. Our goal is to compel the customer to act on behalf of their patients while showing great commitment to the rare disease community, whose support is key.  Utilizing innovative methods to identify patients who may benefit from treatment, we must take a highly strategic approach to patient access while assisting patients and their caregivers to navigate the healthcare system.

The Opportunity

As the Leadership & Program Development Lead within the Functional Excellence team of Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs (CMG) at Genentech, you will drive the end-to-end (E2E) strategy, vision, and execution of high-priority leadership programs critical to our commercial business. Sitting at the intersection of business needs and enterprise strategy, you will bridge localized capability gaps by partnering deeply with People & Culture (P&C) and People & Organizational Growth (P&OG) chapters. In this role, you will equip CMG leaders with the agility, strategic mindset, and capabilities needed to navigate a complex healthcare landscape.

  • End-to-End Portfolio Ownership: Provide total oversight—from strategic visioning to execution and scaling—for a portfolio of business-critical CMG leadership programs designed to build future-ready capabilities. Contribute to the core and specialized curriculum by defining the key leadership capabilities for CMG, and weaving in the CMG behaviors throughout program design and delivery.

  • Cross-Functional Ecosystem Partnership: Act as the primary conduit between CMG Functional Excellence, P&C, specifically P&OG to maximize content leverage, minimize duplication, and deliver unified development solutions.

  • High-Impact Facilitation & Delivery: Bring your deep, outside-in expertise in leadership development to personally design, facilitate, and deliver world-class training experiences.

  • Senior Stakeholder Management: Build strong, trust-based relationships with CMG senior leadership and internal partners to ensure development programs remain highly relevant and aligned with shifting business priorities. Ensure clear communication, alignment, and buy-in for all major leadership programs.

  • Commercial Rotational Development Program (CRDP): Oversee and evolve the CRDP to develop future-ready leaders equipped with the agility, integrity, and strategic mindset required to navigate complexity and lead effectively across the commercial organization.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or a related field (Master's/MBA preferred).

  • 8 to 10+ years of progressive experience owning the complete lifecycle of major corporate talent or leadership development initiatives (e.g., rotational programs, high-potential accelerators).

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience facilitating executive-level leadership programs using modern leadership frameworks, adult learning principles, and organizational psychology.

  • Proven track record of operating in matrixed corporate environments, influencing without authority, and partnering effectively with central HR/P&C groups.

  • You demonstrate strong business acumen with experience coaching mid-level managers on strategic value-stream thinking and systemic leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep, specialized expertise in modern leadership frameworks, adult learning principles, and organizational psychology. You are an exceptional facilitator and trainer who can command a room and inspire leaders at all levels.

  • Proven track record of taking complex talent programs from initial concept and executive alignment through to delivery, measurement, and continuous iteration.

  • Highly skilled at navigating matrixed organizations, building buy-in, influencing without authority, and partnering with cross-functional HR, P&C, specifically P&OG, and business teams.

  • Ability to coach and guide mid-level leaders on moving from tactical people management to strategic value-stream optimization within CMG.
