Position Summary

Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing comprehensive human resources support across all HR functional areas, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compensation, leave administration, records management, compliance, performance management, and workforce development. This position serves as the primary subject matter expert for recruitment and talent acquisition, employee credentialing and compliance tracking, employee recognition programs, workforce engagement initiatives, and onboarding excellence. The Human Resources Generalist works collaboratively with leadership to attract, retain, and engage a highly qualified workforce while ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements and supports organizational objectives through effective HR service delivery


Some Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides HR support and guidance to employees and managers on policies, procedures, benefits, leave, and employee relations matters.
  • Administers HR programs, processes personnel actions, and maintains accurate employee status changes including hires, promotions, transfers, compensation updates, leaves, and separations.
  • Supports employee relations, complaint resolution, corrective action, performance management, coaching documentation, and development planning.
  • Administers employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits.
  • Serves as liaison with employees, insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators to resolve benefits questions and issues.
  • Reconciles benefit invoices, audits enrollment data, and monitors compliance with ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and related benefits regulations.
  • Maintains employee records, workflows, configurations, security permissions, organizational structures, and HRIS data integrity.
  • Supports payroll processing through data validation, personnel transactions, system maintenance, troubleshooting, and user training.
  • Conducts routine audits of HR records, forms, workflows, and documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Ensures document retention practices support federal, state, accreditation, organizational, and audit requirements.
  • Coordinates and facilitates new employee onboarding, orientation, and organizational integration programs.
  • Supports recruitment activities including job postings, applicant tracking, candidate screening, interviewing, and hiring coordination.
  • Assists with audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance initiatives.
  • Participates in HR projects, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.


Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of two years of human resources experience required, preferably with exposure to benefits administration, HRIS administration, onboarding, training, recruitment, employee relations, and compliance.
  • Experience administering employee benefits programs and working with HRIS platforms required; Paylocity experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required

Licenses/Certifications

  • Must have valid NM driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
  •  PHR, SHRM-CP, or related HR certification preferred.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

  • Comprehensive knowledge of human resources principles and practices. 
  • Knowledge of employee benefits administration and compliance. 
  • Proficiency in Paylocity HRIS and payroll systems. 
  • Strong skills in HR data management, reporting, and analytics. 
  • Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FLSA, and employment laws. 
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and record management skills. 
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines. 
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and training skills. 
  • Effective conflict resolution and employee relations skills. 
  • Strong customer service orientation and professionalism. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, HR technologies, and database systems. 
  • Ability to analyze processes and develop operational improvements. 
  • Knowledge of credentialing administration principles and procedures. 
  • Ability to foster a cooperative environment. 


PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS/WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is generally performed in an office or clinic administrative environment. The position requires regular use of a computer, phone, and standard office equipment, with frequent interaction with employees, managers, applicants, vendors, and the public. The role may involve competing priorities, deadlines, interruptions, and occasional travel between organizational locations.
