Overview

The CNC Turning Operator produces precision aerospace components by operating CNC turning machines within the Electro-Methods Lean manufacturing flow line. Operators perform value-added machining operations while following standardized work instructions and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and aerospace quality standards.

Working within a Lean production environment, CNC Turning Operators help maintain continuous production flow by monitoring machining processes, identifying abnormalities, and preventing defects from moving downstream.

This role supports:
• Creation of standard work
• Maintaining standard work
• Training and coaching of standard work
• Improvement of standard work

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes and turning centers.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
• Monitor machining operations and adjust offsets as required.
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools.
• Document production activity in accordance with AS9100 requirements.
• Identify machine or process abnormalities and escalate as needed.
• Maintain organized and clean work areas in accordance with 5S principles.
• Operate other equipment in the cell as necessary to keep product flowing at takt.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of CNC turning experience.
• Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measurement tools.

Additional Information

Preferred Qualifications
• Aerospace machining experience.
• Familiarity with Fanuc CNC controls.
• Experience with multi-axis turning equipment.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Occasional lifting of 40–50 lbs.
• Manual dexterity required for handling small precision parts.

Work Environment
• Precision machining environment with exposure to machine tools, cutting fluids, and production equipment.
