Job Description:

Your Impact in This Role

As a Mechanic 2, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  •  Proficiency in basic principles of mechanical troubleshooting and repair (able to perform the task with no supervision) 
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of (has had training, but has not proven proficiency and sometimes requires supervision of task): 
  • Inspection and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment 
  • Mechanical Installation of facility machinery 
  • Root cause analysis and counter measure 
  • Product quality analysis 
  • Preventative maintenance process of facility machinery 
  • Operation monitoring of facility machinery  
  • Basic equipment fabrication 
  • Fabrication of repair parts and solutions 
  • Troubleshooting and repair of: 
  • Optical Sortation 
  • Crushers and Screeners 
  • Compressed Air and Dryers 
  • Organic Removal Systems 
  • Metal Remove (Fe and NonFe) 
  • Conveyance 
  • Create and ensure environment of safety for self and others 
  • Complete daily maintenance and repair logs 
  • Maintain a clean work area 
  • Maintain and secure work tools 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Reparations

  • Repair mechanical, pneumatic and/or hydraulic malfunctions.
  • Analyze the cause of the problem
  • Prepare maintenance work by using correct tools, spare parts, drawings, procedures, ...
  • Correctly solve the problem by replacing or repairing parts (assembling, disassembling, welding, grinding, burning and sheet metal work) and escalate to or consulting with the responsible person or colleagues in case of irregularities
  • Provide input to improve plant operations to prevent future similar problems, and discuss with the responsible person.

External organizations

  • Assist external technicians with the installation of new machines, perform all connections, adjust machines and, if necessary, escort outside firms around the company premises.

Production

  • Assist operators with problems that obstruct production in order to get production back up and running as quickly as possible.

Safety

  • Monitor compliance with construction plans, pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Ensure the necessary actions, including administration such as NMRAs, are taken to ensure the safe operation of the facilities
  • Apply Sibelco's life-saving rules and the LOTOTO principle: Lock Out, Tag Out, Try Out
  • Ensure that the necessary PPE is available for each installation and that it is used correctly
  • Make correct use of the available tools and associated procedures
  • Execute and apply procedures such as LMRA, work permits, standard operating procedures and specific safety instructions
  • Communicate with other departments during work
  • Report safety problems
  • Monitor compliance and accuracy of construction plans, pneumatic and hydraulic schemes
  • Implement and participate in safety improvements and actions

Educational Background and prior professional experience

Language requirements

  • A2 Mechanics or equivalent by experience
  • Good knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Knowledge of materials and techniques (lifting and hoisting techniques, welding techniques,...) with the execution of operational activities
  • Knowledge of general technical regulations and safety rules
  • Certificate to drive the forklift
  • Technical English - read and understand text
  • Other languages are an asset
