Position Summary:

The Business Development position is responsible for generating new customer contacts for MEI Industrial Solution services and Accurate metals and fabrication to develop new businesses and industrial establishments electronically or by phone. Responsibility to build, establish, and maintain customer relationships to maximize sales. This position is also responsible for the estimating and managing of certain projects to ensure company deliverables are achieved.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively and consistently contact and manage leads and prospect lists. 
  • Constant and committed follow ups and new leads 
  • Collaborate with marketing and national sales team to optimize customer leads.
  • Develop relationships with existing and new customers to expand opportunities for estimators to quote work.
  • Interface with Estimating Coordinator, Estimators, and Field Crew to bring in new leads.
  • Refer to estimating department job walks to assist with customer bids/estimates to accurately price projects.
  • Develop reoccurring customer contacts for inactive customers, increase company footprint within customer facilities.
  • Build customers relationships with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Develop highly effective relationships with clients, business partners, operations management, and support staff.
  • Consistently gain knowledge regarding industry and market information and trends.
  • Manage customer post job surveys by developing a report of customer feedback to be used in continuous process improvement by operations.
  • Actively participate in sales meetings.
  • Develop professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; relevant trade shows: reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Administer historical records by maintaining data on area and customer sales.
  • Develop and maintain a weekly spread sheet to be presented to the regional R/O for discussion at all sales related meetings. 
  • Local Travel required to regional offices to work with teams to develop expanding customer base and following up on sales leads. 


Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in sales, marketing, or business development.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Applications and CRM software.
  • Adept at negotiating business deals and able to make sound judgement that will benefit the company.
  • Excellent interpersonal, sales techniques and project management skills.
  • Highly self-directed, self-motivated, adaptable, and outgoing.
  • Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgement to examine customer needs, use creativity to foster relationships, troubleshoot issues from customer feedback.
  • Ability to travel, when needed. 
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter that is capable of working efficiently alone or with others. 
  • Must be able to present team capabilities to the public at trades shows and expo shows. 


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Normal temperature-controlled office environment. Will frequently perform work using keyboard / mouse, including work at a computer terminal, and perform activities requiring manual dexterity. Will use telephones (including cellular) and standard office equipment. Work involves extended periods of sitting, occasional walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds. May occasionally work outdoors with exposure to inclement weather or walk over uneven ground or terrain as it pertains to client locations.
