Position Summary:
The Rigging Supervisor will assist in the coordination of labor and necessaryÂ
equipment or tools per job or job specifications and may deliver and/or operateÂ
specific equipment (powered and non-powered) necessary for the work. InÂ
conjunction with site or regional office leadership, the Rigging Supervisor willÂ
oversee rigging crews involved in delivering or retrieving equipment or materialsÂ
necessary for machinery relocation or securing equipment to prevent movement.Â
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with planning and executing rigging work, including the coordination ofÂ
labor and materials and in conjunction with safety and managers, perform jobÂ
walks and job hazard analyses.
• Accurately estimate tools, equipment, and labor needed for each job or job siteÂ
requirements and coordinate resources so rigging crews can start or continueÂ
work without delay.Â
• Inspect tools and equipment used for rigging and reject items showing wear,Â
thinning, cracks or potential failure points prior to issuing or approving for use.Â
Demonstrate the proper use of specific equipment, as necessary. Ensure toolsÂ
or equipment is returned / accounted for, clean, and ready for use.
• Assign rigging crews to various jobs, and oversee crew attendance, neededÂ
skill sets and talents, and ensure crews are dispersed for work or no work (asÂ
applicable) fairly and within Company or customer preferences and guidelines.Â
• Supervise crews to include directing work, issue corrective action or rewardsÂ
and recognition. May review and/or approve crew timecards and requests forÂ
time off.
• Train and mentor entry-level riggers, Rigger Trainees, and others as needed.
• Perform all other duties as necessary or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):
• High school diploma or equivalent necessary. A degree (Associates orÂ
Bachelors) in construction, project management, or related field helpful.
• Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience performing rigging work required; TwoÂ
years’ of successful and/or progressive experience as a supervisor highlyÂ
preferred.
• Successful completion of OSHA 30 training; keep current with trainingÂ
concepts as they relate to employee and job site safety.
• Understand and support MEI safety concepts and be able to instruct othersÂ
accordingly – including the correct use of Personal Protective EquipmentÂ
(PPE).Â
• Solid and professional communication skills, both written and verbal. PracticesÂ
active listening and critical thinking skills.
• Is self-directed and self-motivated; manages time well and encourages timeÂ
efficiencies from others.Â
• Possesses intermediate knowledge of a Windows-based computer and knowsÂ
or can quickly learn the necessary software; good understanding of MicrosoftÂ
Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including theÂ
meaning and spelling of words; able to keep legible records and logs inÂ
English.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
This is physical, hands-on work. Must be able to perform General PhysicalÂ
Activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and activities requiringÂ
moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, orÂ
crouching. May regularly lift items up to 50 pounds. Frequently uses sensesÂ
involving sight, smell, touch, and auditory. May work off the ground at varyingÂ
heights; must not be affected by flashing lights, noise, or moving machinery. MayÂ
perform occasional work in a warehouse or non-temperature-controlledÂ
environment and/or outdoors over uneven terrain or with exposure to inclementÂ
weather.Â
