Job Overview
The Food Runner is responsible for delivering food and beverages from the kitchen to guests accurately, efficiently, and with a strong sense of hospitality. This role ensures orders are properly checked for accuracy, presentation, and completeness before being delivered to the correct table and guest.

This position operates in a fast-paced, high-volume dining environment requiring constant movement between kitchen and dining areas. The role is primarily indoors and involves close coordination with both culinary and service teams. Success in this role requires speed, accuracy, communication, and strong guest service awareness.

Job Responsibilities

Order Delivery & Expo Support

  • Pick up and deliver food orders from the kitchen to the correct table and seat position accurately and efficiently
  • Read and interpret kitchen tickets to ensure correct orders are delivered
  • Check plate presentation, garnishes, and order completeness at the expo line before delivery
  • Deliver multiple plates and trays safely and efficiently through a busy dining room

Communication & Service Coordination

  • Communicate clearly between kitchen and front-of-house staff regarding order timing, delays, or modifications
  • Assist servers by relaying guest requests, missing items, or special instructions
  • Support smooth service flow during peak dining periods
  • Maintain awareness of table numbers, seat positions, and order priorities

Guest Support & Table Assistance

  • Assist servers with tableside needs including water refills, clearing plates, and delivering additional items
  • Ensure guest orders are delivered promptly and with a professional, hospitable demeanor
  • Respond to guest needs when in dining area as directed by service staff
  • Provide a positive and attentive guest experience at all times

Cleanliness, Organization & Side Work

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of expo line, pass-through, and server stations
  • Complete opening and closing side work duties as assigned
  • Ensure all service areas remain clean, stocked, and organized throughout service
  • Follow all sanitation and food safety standards consistently

Job Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Minimum 1 year of restaurant or food service experience preferred. Experience in high-volume dining or expo support strongly preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to accurately deliver food orders to correct tables and guests
  • Ability to read and interpret kitchen tickets quickly and correctly
  • Strong communication skills between kitchen and service teams
  • Ability to maintain awareness of order timing and service flow
  • Ability to carry multiple plates and trays safely in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and order accuracy
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
  • Strong teamwork and guest service mindset
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas
  • Flexibility to assist in other F&B outlets as needed
  • Professional appearance and positive demeanor at all times

Certifications: Food safety certification preferred (or required per local regulations).

Travel required: No travel required; role is property-based.

Physical requirements:

  • Constant standing and walking throughout entire shift
  • Frequent reaching, balancing, and use of fine and gross motor skills
  • Occasional bending, crouching, and pushing/pulling
  • Constant lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. (plates, trays, beverages); occasional up to 50 lbs.
