About the Role:

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of healthcare facilities by performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks. This position is responsible for maintaining mechanical, electrical, and structural systems to support a safe and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The technician will troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain compliance with health and safety regulations. Working closely with facility management, the role requires proactive maintenance planning and emergency response capabilities. Ultimately, the Maintenance Technician helps uphold the facility’s operational integrity, contributing to the overall quality of care and service delivery.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in maintenance work involving plumbing, electrical wiring, mechanical repair, and carpentry.
  • Ability to climb ladders and perform physically demanding tasks safely.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to talk and hear effectively to understand instructions and report issues.
  • Basic knowledge of safety protocols and compliance requirements in a healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in healthcare or social assistance facilities.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Additional safety certifications such as OSHA or first aid training.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on plumbing, electrical wiring, mechanical systems, and carpentry within the healthcare facility.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and structural issues, including drywall repairs and precision measuring tasks to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Climb ladders and access confined spaces safely to inspect, maintain, and repair facility infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with facility management and other departments to prioritize maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs to comply with regulatory standards and internal policies.

The required skills such as plumbing, electrical wiring, and mechanical repair are essential for diagnosing and fixing a variety of facility issues to maintain operational continuity.
