Security Supervisor

Penick Village is seeking an experienced and dependable Security Supervisor to oversee the safety and security operations of our community. This position is responsible for supervising security staff, monitoring property safety, responding to incidents, and ensuring a secure environment for residents, visitors, and employees.
Position Summary
The Security Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors within the Penick Village community. This role supervises security staff, coordinates daily operations, and provides hands-on support including campus patrols, resident transportation, emergency response, and customer service. The Security Supervisor upholds all community policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards while supporting resident dignity, privacy, and rights.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise, schedule, and coordinate daily activities of security staff, ensuring appropriate coverage for all shifts
Conduct regular rounds of the campus on foot and by vehicle, to monitor safety, security, and compliance with community policies and . Ensure that all security personnel conduct regular rounds of the campus to monitor safety and ensure compliance with community policies and procedures.
Be observant. Make note of any missing or out of place items or persons on campus.
Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations involving residents, staff, or visitors, as well as ensuring that all security staff respond promptly to emergency situations.
Assist residents during emergencies and coordinate with emergency services as necessary
Monitor alarm systems and respond accordingly. These include but are not limited to Independent Living pull cords and pendants, fire alarms, and any other building alarm systems. Ensure that all security staff respond accordingly to these alarm systems.
Maintain information of active "Be On the Look Out" notices, trespass notices, and/or restraining order information for team members and/or resident concerns.
Acts as security for and responds to staff and/or resident related issues. Including team member terminations when requested by Human Resources or other authorized leaders.
Transport residents on and off campus for scheduled activities, medical appointments, and approved community
Provide traffic control and enforce campus speed limits. Monitor parking areas and issue corrective actions as necessary, providing HR with copies of tickets written by security personnel.
Process and submit security staff payroll accurately and in a timely manner
Answer phones and respond to calls, requests, and concerns with professionalism, discretion, and empathy
Provide excellent customer service to residents, families, staff, and visitors at all times
Complete incident reports, daily activity logs, and other documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements
Communicate effectively with the Resident Services Coordinator regarding staffing needs, incidents, and operational concerns
Enforce community safety policies and procedures consistently, respectfully, and in alignment with resident-centered care principles
Train, mentor, and evaluate security personnel, ensuring staff are knowledgeable in emergency procedures, customer service expectations, documentation standards, and compliance requirements
Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring of security staff
Model professional behavior and accountability for all security staff
Supervise security team, ensuring that all duties and tasks assigned are completed on each shift and all in-service trainings are completed as needed.
Ensure all security staff report to duty in proper uniform, maintaining a clean, professional appearance at all times. This includes verifying uniforms are in good condition, appropriate footwear is worn, and their name badge is visible at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned on an as needed basis by an authorized supervisor.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in security, law enforcement, healthcare, or emergency response preferred
Previous supervisory experience required; security experience in healthcare, senior living, or residential community strongly preferred
Ability to pass CPR and First Aid training and ensure all security staff are scheduled and pass CPR and First Aid training.
EMT or Law Enforcement background preferred but not required
Required certification for EMR (Emergency Medical Responder Certification); or the ability to obtain such within 60 days Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification in North Carolina requires completing an approved NCOEMS course (typically 1-2 semesters, ~96 hours) and passing the state credentialing exam.
Valid North Carolina driver's license with a clean driving record
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations
Basic computer proficiency, including scheduling, reporting, and payroll systems
