General Function

The Member Experience Associate is responsible for ensuring exceptional service and assistance to YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit members, prospective members and guests, while exhibiting excellent communication and customer service skills and upholding the member experience standards.

Education/Experience/Training/Certifications

  • At minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent (over 18+ years of age)
  • Prior customer service experience in a busy work environment is required
  • Experience with computers is preferred, but not required
  • Having an outgoing, dependable, and self-starter attitude is requested

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to members and guests through greeting, managing and addressing member concerns, directing to programs and activities, and answering phones.
  • Facilitate all business functions related to membership and program registrations with exceptional customer service and accuracy.
  • Build a positive first impression with a warm smile and personal greeting for all who encounter the YMCA by upholding the YMCA core values.
  • Uphold the membership experience best practices.
  • Performs other assigned duties as directed by Supervisor

Abilities & Skills

  • Ability to hear and observe all members and potential members of the Y’s concerns and questions
  • Skills to meet strength and lifting requirements
  • Availability on weekends and opening shifts
