Title: Assessment Technician
Department: Department of Assessment
Location: Town Hall, 75 Main Street, Southington CT
Rate/Grade; Grade 4, $34.12 hr.
Union: United Public Service Employee Union Local 424-Unit 35
Reports to: Director of Assessment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work closely with the public and provide high levels of customer service that include inquiries and complaints
  • Assisting the public in completing forms, statements, and applications in person or by phone
  • Occasional field work related to real estate assessment and personal property assessment
  • Reviewing real estate deeds reflecting ownership changes and data entry into mass appraisal system
  • Making computations of moderate complexity by hand or machine
  • Compiling, tabulating, and applying standard formulas to statistical data of moderate complexity
  • Typing and distributing correspondence
  • Interpreting laws, regulations, and polices governing the work performed to the public
  • Accepting records and receipts; reconciling fees and payments
  • Willing to attend trainings, conferences, and certification courses relating to tax and assessment
  • Perform any and all other related duties assigned by the Director of Assessment and Revenue or his/her designee


Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Customer service experience with the ability to effectively interact with people

Computer/ Technology:

路 Proficient in Google Workspace applications (Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar, and Drive).聽

路 Experience with Gems.net and Vision software is preferred.

路 Ability to learn and effectively utilize new software applications and technology systems.

Must be able to travel independently to different properties to conduct assessments
