The Assistant Deli Manager supports the Deli Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Deli Department. This position helps ensure exceptional customer service, food safety compliance, product quality, sales growth, inventory control, and team development. The Assistant Deli Manager provides leadership to department associates and helps maintain an efficient, clean, and profitable operation.
Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales- Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
- Assist customers with product selection, special orders, catering requests, and meal solutions.
- Address and resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Support department sales and profitability goals through effective merchandising and execution.
- Ensure fresh, attractive, and fully stocked service cases and displays.
- Assist in managing daily deli operations, including food preparation, merchandising, packaging, and service.
- Ensure department standards for product quality, freshness, and presentation are consistently met.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering products and supplies.
- Oversee proper product rotation and inventory control procedures.
- Minimize shrink through effective inventory management and product handling practices.
- Ensure department equipment is properly maintained and operating safely.
- Assist with supervising, scheduling, training, and coaching department associates.
- Provide direction and leadership during daily operations.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment focused on teamwork and accountability.
- Support onboarding and development of new associates.
- Serve as acting department leader in the absence of the Deli Manager.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Monitor proper food handling, storage, temperature control, and labeling procedures.
- Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards.
- Ensure associates follow company policies and safety procedures.
- Participate in inspections, audits, and corrective action initiatives as required.
- Execute merchandising plans, promotional programs, and seasonal displays.
- Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution.
- Monitor sales trends and product movement to maximize department performance.
- Assist with inventory counts and operational audits.
- Support catering and prepared food programs to drive department sales.
