Perform two dimensional echocardiography, M-mode echocardiography, pulsed and continuous wave Doppler (including nonimaging probe), Color flow imaging and tissue Doppler, and echocardiographic quantitation according to the Echo Lab protocol. Needs to be proficient in all the techniques of digital echocardiography including digital recording, annotation, measurements, saving/copying/reviewing/deleting study.
Complete worksheet with study findings.
Provide professional quality technical care for the Clinic patients, according to established guidelines and practices.
Enter all necessary data into EMR.
Be familiar with saving/retrieving images on DVR.
Use PAC system to review, store and copy echocardiographic studies, to enter all necessary data for the final echo report, to print final report.
Take BP, place EKG leads and take EKG. Recognize major abnormalities and report to physician/NP.
Recognize and report to cardiologist significant abnormal findings.
Maintain Echo equipment in operative condition including regular cleaning, checking for malfunction and calling support when issues arise.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform M-mode echocardiograms: Obtain M-mode of left atrium, aortic root, aortic valve, mitral valve and left ventricle.
Perform two dimensional echocardiograms: Perform parasternal long axis views-optimize for the aortic and mitral valves and left ventricle. Obtain measurements for aortic root, left atrium, left ventricle to evaluate for ejection fraction and left ventricular wall thickness. Perform parasternal short axis views at the level of the aortic, tricuspid and pulmonic valves, the mitral valve, the papillary muscles and the apex. Obtain apical long axis, apical four chamber, apical five chamber, and apical two chamber views. Create special views for abnormalities not demonstrated optimally by standard views. Fill out respective section of the echocardiographic worksheet.
Perform Doppler Echocardiography: pulsed wave Doppler echocardiographic recordings of each valve and the left ventricular outflow tract, pulmonary venous flow, tissue Doppler recordings for diastolic dysfunction, continuous wave Doppler examinations of each valve with the determination of mean gradients when peak gradients are elevated, plus perform Doppler evaluation of aortic stenosis with the nonimaging probe, Color flow imaging of each valve and ventricular and atrial
septum in all two dimensional echocardiographic views. Fill out respective section of the echocardiographic worksheet.
Perform Stress Echocardiography: In conjunction with exercise physiologist connect patient to the EKG cable on GXT machine. Get resting EKG and BP. Check images for the signs of contraindication for the Stress test. Document if accidental abnormal finding noticed. Record images in the parasternal long axis, parasternal short axis, apical four chamber, and apical two chamber views before and immediately after exercise (within 90 sec). These images have to be saved on the DVR and have to be available for the physician's review in addition to at the PAC system reading station.

Fill out respective section of the echocardiographic worksheet.
Perform related work responsibilities as required or needed in the Echo Lab.
