Position Summary:
The DPF Quality Specialist II is an essential role within the DPF Program. One of the DPF Program's core missions is to produce the highest quality diesel particulate filters (DPFs) at the lowest cost for Penske service departments, and this position is central to delivering on that mission. This is an entry-level position within the DPF arena, where associates are trained to restore DPFs to 80% or more of their original capacity. The primary responsibilities of this role include examining DPFs, performing quality tests, and determining whether a unit is suitable for cleaning. If a DPF is deemed cleanable, the associate performs one to two cleaning procedures to produce the highest quality output. Without this position, the DPF Program would be unable to operate effectively or fulfill its mission.

Major Responsibilities:

DPF Quality Control
• Visually inspect DPFs and perform quality tests to determine flow restriction and cell integrity using pin gauges, a borescope, and flow testing equipment
• With supervisory oversight, make informed decisions on whether a DPF can be cleaned and reused or should be disposed of
• Follow all quality measurement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure the highest quality DPFs are produced
• Ensure Penske quality standards meet or exceed current DOT/EPA/GHG guidelines

Performing DPF Cleaning and Repair
• Associate will be trained and will perform two standard cleaning procedures
• Perform procedures consistently, as a repeatable process is critical to ensuring DPF quality is compliant with Penske and EPA/DOT/GHG standards
• Operate pneumatic equipment to clean DPFs using proper nozzles and patterns based on unit specifications
• Complete quality tests following the pneumatic cleaning process to determine whether the DPF meets Penske specifications
• Operate a thermal oven as needed for additional cleaning, including safely operating a kiln and adhering to all proper usage procedures

Assisting in Basic Warehouse Management Tasks in a Team Environment
• Perform various operational and warehouse tasks to maintain the flow of the DPF process
• Tasks include, but are not limited to: removing stickers from scrap barrel lids, prepping paperwork and gaskets for the kitting process, using hand tools to grind DPF surfaces, packaging failed DPFs for shipment, and unbarreling DPFs for receiving and shipping
• Maintain a clean workstation by mitigating soot buildup on all surfaces daily
• Apply 5S methodology to personal workstation and work area

Data Entry
• Frequently use a computer for data entry and decision documentation
• Document all quality tests and measurements in Salesforce
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency in all data entry tasks

Other projects and tasks as assigned.
