Job Summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for performing field service activities at customer sites in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. This role includes troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel, and other specialized equipment depending on the business unit. The technician will perform preventative maintenance, manage parts inventory, identify and resolve equipment and safety issues, and provide exceptional customer service. This position requires strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently in a variety of field environments.

Essential Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment for employees, customers, and contractors.
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, installation, and preventative maintenance on customer- and company-owned equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel, and other equipment issues as applicable to the business unit.
- Manage parts inventory and maintain accurate service documentation.
- Identify, communicate, and address safety concerns at customer sites.
- Deliver high-quality customer service while serving as a primary point of contact in the field.
- Complete service reports and required documentation accurately and on time.
- Demonstrate accountability, innovation, and ownership in daily work activities.
- Collaborate effectively with team members while maintaining the ability to work independently.
- Support multiple customer locations, systems, and technologies as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 0–2 years of technical, mechanical, electrical, diesel, or related field service experience preferred.
- Prior customer-facing experience preferred.
- Experience with mechanical equipment, electrical systems, diesel, hydraulics, HVAC, automotive, industrial equipment, pumps, fusion, or related technical fields is a plus.
- Ability to obtain required customer site clearances, including TWIC, DISA, or other site-specific requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card, if required.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
Skills
- Mechanical, electrical, diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic, fusion, or related technical knowledge depending on business unit requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and mobile technology.
- Ability to analyze technical information and communicate findings clearly.
- Ability to learn new equipment, systems, and technologies.
- Ability to develop effective solutions in dynamic field environments.
Travel and Driving Requirements
- Travel to customer sites is required and may vary depending on the division and location.
- Overnight travel may be required based on business and customer needs.
- This position requires operating a company vehicle. Candidates must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record that meets company standards.
- Candidates must successfully complete all required driver, DOT, medical, and background screening requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
The estimated salary range for this position is $26 to $30 an hour. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
