This Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech opportunity is full time, offers full benefits and a convenient day shift schedule.  This dual roll will provide direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Dept.  You will monitors cardiac rhythms on telemetry monitor.  Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff.  Implements directions from physicians and nursing staff. Also you will assist with basic care based on the individual patient need within the scope of practice under direct supervisor of the Registered Nurse.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, coworkers, physicians and nursing director.
  • Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
  • Takes, documents and reports vital signs.  Reports abnormal results immediately to registered nurse
  • Initiates monitoring and ECG set and attaches monitoring equipment correctly.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent with one (1) year experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Proof of Basic 16hr EKG class (within three months of hire, if available), completes annual EKG competency
  • BLS Certification (within 6 months of hire)
