JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the WIC Clinic Manager, the WIC Educator conducts WIC certifications, mid-certifications, and nutrition/breastfeeding education in compliance with federal and state WIC regulations. This position determines eligibility for WIC services, performs nutrition assessments, and provides participant-centered counseling to support healthy outcomes for women, infants, and children. The WIC Educator also supports program outreach and assists with daily clinic operations, including cross- coverage for other WIC staff roles when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program & Participant Services

  • Screen, enroll, certify, transfer, and schedule WIC participants in accordance with federal guidelines.
  • Conduct anthropometric and hematological measurements (height, weight, hemoglobin) and collect health history
  • Determine program eligibility and issue benefits based on assessment and WIC
  • Provide individual and group nutrition education using client-centered counseling
  • Promote and support breastfeeding in alignment with Loving Support model and FNS requirements.
  • Provide guidance on using WIC EBT cards, approved food lists, and breast pump issuance and usage.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the WIC Management Information System (MIS).



Outreach & Community Engagement

  • Participate in outreach activities to promote WIC services and increase
  • Collaborate with community partners, healthcare providers, and tribal programs to connect participants with additional



Clinic Operations & Support

  • Greet clients, manage reception duties, and route inquiries to appropriate
  • Assist with inventory management, including breast pumps, mama kits, and educational
  • Provide cross-coverage for other WIC roles during absences or high-volume
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, in-service training, and professional


Other Duties

  • Attend required staff meetings, breastfeeding conferences, and professional development opportunities.
  • Read assigned materials to expand breastfeeding
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet program

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; coursework or background in nutrition, health, or medical field preferred.
  • Minimum one year of related experience in health, nutrition, or social
  • Completion of ITCN WIC CPA Training Program within the timeline set by
  • Completion of Loving Support Grow and Glow Breastfeeding Training Program (or willingness to complete within required timeframe).
  • Commitment to breastfeeding promotion and
  • Valid Nevada driver’s license with a good driving record; ability to travel extensively, including overnight
  • Must be at least 21 years of

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong communication and counseling skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of nutrition principles, breastfeeding support, and WIC program
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn WIC MIS
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Office and clinic setting with routine use of computers, phones, and medical
  • Ability to sit, stand, and perform physical assessments for extended
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and participate in community events indoors and outdoors.
