Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operation of the Human Resources Department including hiring and interviewing applicants, administering benefits and leave, and enforcing company policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Interprets and explains human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations to employees and managers.
- Maintains current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Prepares and maintains employment records and documentation related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions.
- Acts as a point of contact for employees and managers, addressing questions and concerns related to HR policies, benefits, and company practices, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Assists employees with benefit inquiries, enrollments, and changes.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, ensuring that the HR systems are updated, and necessary paperwork is completed.
- Sources, screens, and interviews candidates for various positions within the company, participating in the selection process and making recommendations to hiring managers.
- Coordinates and conducts new employee orientations, ensuring a smooth onboarding process.
- Maintains and updates human resources documents, such as job descriptions, employee handbooks or performance evaluation forms.
- Confers with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
- Provides management with information or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, counseling techniques, or documentation of performance issues.
- Researches and provides management with information related to training needs, employee development, and health and safety programs.
- Coordinates with outside staffing agencies to secure temporary employees, based on departmental needs.
- Supports the HR team in various HR projects and initiatives, such as talent management, benefits administration, and employee engagement.
Additional Responsibilities:

- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems, or related software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:
- Largely a sedentary role, however, routinely uses standard office equipment such as calculators, computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and printers.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at company’s worksite or facilities.
Work Environment:
- Professional office environment.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles due to necessary communication with warehouse.
- Occasionally exposed to noise level that is moderate to high.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree
Certification in Human Resources
Experience:
At least 2 years’ experience, related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
