Summary:

As a Senior Composites Technician, you will be responsible for performing advanced assembly and fabrication of adhesive-bonded composite structures. Building on prior experience, you will play a key role in ensuring processes are completed with the highest precision, quality, and efficiency while supporting leadership within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with written work instructions, standard procedures, and processes to perform advanced layup and assembly tasks.

  • Plan, lay out, fabricate, and build adhesive-bonded assemblies of non-metallic composite materials with a high level of proficiency.

  • Perform precision layup, pre-fit, and assembly of composite bonded structures with strict attention to tolerances.

  • Fit and install core components with exceptional accuracy.

  • Demonstrate advanced skills in laying out and marking dimensions and reference lines, using patterns or templates.

  • Support Environmental Health & Safety and Quality System policies to maintain a safe, efficient workplace.

  • Perform a variety of non-routine fabrication, curing, build-up, and assembly procedures under limited supervision.

  • Apply proficient knowledge of composite technologies, including hi-temp plastics, prepreg, graphite epoxy, wet graphite, and silicone injection molding.

  • Assist in leading the shop area to ensure quality and safety standards are upheld.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience or related technical training (A&P school, composite/metal bonding).

  • Ability to read and interpret OEM drawings with precision.

  • Experience with lean and continuous improvement practices preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, standing, and sitting for extended periods.

  • Skilled in advanced layup methods, including prepreg, infusion, and resin mixing for infusion and gel coating.

  • Proficient in using small hand tools (routers, die grinders, band saws, Dremel tools) for advanced assembly tasks.

  • Strong mathematics and precision measuring skills.

  • Accuracy in completing paperwork and manufacturing routing sheets.

  • Effective communication skills in English (written and oral).

  • Ability to take initiative, adapt to changing priorities, and work in a dynamic environment.

  • Basic computer data entry skills.
