Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with patient exams, treatments, and medical procedures
- Obtaining patient histories and preparing exam rooms for DVM appointments
- Collecting blood samples, placing IV catheters, and performing diagnostic testing
- Reading and interpreting ear, urine, and skin cytologies
- Monitoring anesthesia and assisting with surgical procedures
- Taking diagnostic radiographs, including dental radiographs when applicable
- Utilizing safe, low-stress handling and proper restraint
- Educating clients on preventive care, vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutrition, and common disease prevention
- Maintaining accurate medical records and supporting client communications
- Managing pharmacy duties and maintaining clean, organized work areas
- Supporting daily operations with a team-first mindset
What We’re Looking For
- Veterinary Technician or Assistant with at least 3 years of clinical experience
- Strong technical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory procedures, and anesthesia monitoring
- Working knowledge of surgical assistance and patient care throughout the perioperative period
- Knowledge of safe animal handling and restraint techniques for dogs and cats, with a focus on patient safety and minimizing stress
- Experience with cytology evaluation and dental radiography
- Excellent communication and client education skills
- Positive, team-focused attitude and dedication to high standards of patient care
- A growth-minded professional who is invested in the success of the practice and committed to helping the team achieve its goals
- Takes initiative, contributes ideas, and actively supports a collaborative and positive workplace culture
- LVT credential is a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Friendly, dependable, and committed to patient care
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and safely restrain patients of varying sizes when appropriate
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced veterinary environment with exposure to animal dander, hair, odors, noise, and cleaning chemicals
- Understanding that the position may involve regular exposure to infectious diseases, including zoonotic diseases, and a commitment to following all hospital safety and infection-control protocols
- Ability to safely handle and work around animals of varying temperaments and medical conditions
