Job Description:

Position Summary:

Responsible to assist the Operations Manager in the development and attainment of the business through setting goals and strategies as related to manufacturing and materials.  Assists the Operations Manager in budget planning and forecasting and adheres to all policies and procedures in manufacturing as related to materials management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the safety and health of all functional Team Members

  • Ensure cycle counts are performed as required

  • Manage all inventory levels consistent with the requirements of World Class Manufacturing

  • Develop continuous improvement initiatives to reduce inventory, work in process (WIP), raw materials, and finished goods without effecting customer delivery or decrease in volume

  • Develop and implement a tactical material flow planning process for production planning departments.  Drive WIP inventory reduction planning and stock inventory levels to meet monthly reduction requirements. 

  • Develops policy and procedure for plant operations that are consistent with materials management which include the support of all quality system

  • Ensure corporate and or plant policies and procedures are reviewed and updated to reflect customer requirements of delivery and its information transfer to the customer

  • Accountable for the performance and results of a team within own discipline 

  • Provide technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers 

  • Supports and adheres to quality and partners in the achievement of IATF

  • Supports the achievement and maintenance of ISO 14001

  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description

 Education and Qualifications:

  • Six+ years of materials management experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required

  • Proven leadership and managerial skills, interpersonal skills, and personal development.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Technical knowledge in automotive manufacturing

  • Strong organization skill

  • Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary

Work Environment/Work Conditions:

  • Professional Office Environment

  • Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor

  • Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required

  • Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury
