Position Highlights

Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists patients in getting ready/changing for their procedure
  • Provides assistance to Technicians with treatment procedures
  • Assist and start IVs as directed
  • Helps with patient flow in/out of room
  • Cleans patient care areas and prepares rooms before and after patients
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and therapeutic patient environment at all times
  • Answers phone and directs calls as appropriate
  • Maintains patient confidentiality, including protection of the medical record, order communication data and all other verbal and written patient information
  • Assists with the transfer process of patients within the hospital and to external facilities
  • Participates in departmental cleaning activities as assigned
  • Follows appropriate cleaning standards including sanitation standards
  • Provides for appropriate transporting and re-stocking of supplies and other items related to department and patient care needs

Requirements:

  • Medical certification required: EMT or equivalent to have the knowledge and skill to start IVs
  • Minimum 2 years healthcare experience
  • BLS required or willing to obtain upon hire - Inhouse education available
  • Must be a caring communicator, flexible, able to multitask and be comfortable with technological systems

Schedule: 

  • 60 hr per pay period
  • Mon-Fri; 6 hr day shifts
  • The schedule may fluctuate based upon the needs of the department
