Salary: $25 per hour



The NATIVE Project is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to be the welcoming first point of contact for our patients and community members. This role is essential to creating a respectful, culturally responsive, and patient-centered experience within our clinic.


About the Role

The Patient Services Representative plays a vital role in enhancing the well-being of our communities by providing exceptional reception, scheduling, telephone, and clerical support services. You will support patients from check-in to appointment completion while upholding confidentiality, accuracy, and a culture of compassionate care.

 

Job Summary:
The Patient Services Representative plays a vital role in enhancing the well-being of our communities by providing exceptional reception, scheduling, telephone, and clerical support services.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Warmly welcome patients upon arrival, ensuring a culture of compassionate care; verify appointment details, insurance coverage, and personal information in our database.
  • Collect insurance co-payments and necessary documents, maintaining accurate records of financial transactions.
  • Handle patient demographics over the phone, updating electronic medical records promptly and efficiently.
  • Assist patients in navigating and utilizing the Patient Portal for seamless access to healthcare services.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of intake forms and fee slips before submission for processing.
  • Professionally manage telephone inquiries, taking messages or directing calls to appropriate staff members.
  • Coordinate appointment scheduling and arrange translators when needed, adhering to clinic guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and security in patient waiting areas, upholding confidentiality and privacy regulations at all times.
  • Perform additional tasks as delegated or required.

 

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training preferred.
  2. Strong understanding of multicultural communities, Indian culture, and social service systems.
  3. Prior experience in customer service and handling multi-line telephone systems preferred.
  4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  5. Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and resolve conflicts when necessary.
  6. Proficient in proofreading and editing, with solid grammatical skills.
  7. Competent in using office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, scanners, and printers.
  8. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and ability to learn other software programs as needed.
  9. Can lift 25-30 lb. items, sit for extended periods, and manage stress effectively.
  10. Willingness to travel locally and for training purposes.
  11. Commitment to supporting recovery-based lifestyles and patient outcomes.
  12. Completing criminal background checks, OIG checks, and pre-employment UA/BA.
