Our Kaiser Aluminum Spokane Washington aluminum casting, plating and rolling plant has several opportunities for students inĀ Mechanical EngineeringĀ programs to intern with us. Student interns will report to a mentor who will assign projects which include:Ā
Ā
What you will work on:
- Assist with management of ongoing department projects.
- Participate in project related construction and outage activities.
- Execute individual engineering projects as assigned.
- Participate in the development of project scopes, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Assist with and develop specifications in support of projects.
- Prepare and organize project documentation (manuals, PM's, spare parts, correspondence, drawings, drawing lists, material listings, etc.).
- Other tasks as assigned by departmental mentor.
Only local candidates will be considered. Housing will not be provided

- B.S.M.E. in progress, preferably having completed junior year course work.
- Strong PC skills, including Windows, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Organizational skills.
- Proven ability to work in teams.Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of mechanical design, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and heat transfer, strength of materials, statics and dynamics.
- Proven problem solving skills.
- Practical experience and aptitude with hands-on experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Approximately 50% of the job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. 50% of the job function is required in the plant. There is exposure to operating machinery and a manufacturing environment.
This position has been determined to be a safety-sensitive position and requires a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen that includesĀ marijuana.
