CHEMICAL TREATMENT OPERATOR

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

  • Processes metal parts through the chem treat line (clean/degrease, iron phosphate, aluminum passivation).
  • Loads and unloads parts in chem treat baskets. 
  • Understand and follow work order documentation and standard work.
  • Operate crane hoist in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Maintains bath temperature and rinse water quality.
  • Safely handle chemicals and make chemical additions to treatment baths.
  • Assist with tank cleanout activities.
  • Recognize and report processing discrepancies. 
  • Follow company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma.
  • Experience in a coating environment a plus.
  • Basic understanding of pH and chemistry or basic chemistry lab experience plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs with or without accommodations.
  • Environment may be wet when spraying tanks.
  • Processing parts requires working on elevated platform (cat walk).
  • PPE includes hearing protection and hard hat.  
  • PPE occasionally requires rubber boots, apron, and face shield in wet environments.
